The Prince of Wales Rolls Up His Sleeves for Welsh Business: Highlights from the 2025 Investment Summit
Prince William proved once again why he is one of the hardest-working members of the Royal Family when he spent Monday (1 December 2025) championing Welsh enterprise at the Wales Investment Summit in Cardiff.
Held at the iconic ICC Wales in Newport, the high-profile event brought together more than 300 investors, entrepreneurs and government officials to spotlight Wales as a global hub for innovation, green technology and life sciences.
Dressed in a sharp navy suit and sporting a wide smile, the Prince of Wales toured a vibrant exhibition hall packed with stands from some of Wales’s most exciting companies. From revolutionary hydrogen-powered transport solutions to groundbreaking medical diagnostics and sustainable food production, William showed genuine fascination at every display.

A lengthy chat with engineers from Riversimple, the Welsh hydrogen-car pioneer, where William sat in their sleek Rasa prototype and discussed the future of zero-emission motoring.
Trying out a state-of-the-art virtual-reality training system developed by Cardiff-based Evolve Ray Tracing – complete with safety goggles and a delighted laugh when the simulation threw him into a virtual Welsh valley.
Meeting the team behind Swansea University spin-out CellPath Innovations, whose AI-powered cancer diagnostics are already saving lives across the NHS.
Praising the “extraordinary ambition” of Anglesey-based M-SParc and its marine renewable-energy projects that harness the power of the Irish Sea.
In a short speech to delegates described as “warm and passionate”, Prince William said: 'Ive always been immensely proud to bear the title Prince of Wales, but days like today make me prouder still. The ingenuity, determination and sheer brilliance Ive seen here proves that Wales isnt just keeping up with the world – youre leading it. From green hydrogen to life-saving healthcare, you are building a stronger, greener and fairer future, and I will continue to do everything I can to shout about Welsh success on the global stage.'
The Prince also took time to speak with young apprentices and start-up founders, offering encouragement and posing for countless selfies. One teenage coder from Merthyr Tydfil was overheard telling friends afterwards: 'He actually knew what we were working on – proper geeked out with us!'
First Minister Eluned Morgan, who welcomed William to the summit, later commented: “His Royal Highness’s enthusiasm is infectious and his support is invaluable. When the Prince of Wales believing in Wales so visibly means the world to our business community.”
The visit wrapped up with a handshake line that seemed to go on forever – proof, if any were needed, that Prince William remains as approachable and energetic as ever as he nears the end of a packed 2025 diary.
