Wreath Laying at the Cenotaph
Dressed in a navy coat and hat with a red poppy, the Princess of Wales laid a wreath at the Cenotaph in Whitehall on behalf of King Charles III. The solemn ceremony remembered all Australian and New Zealand forces who served and fell in conflicts, especially those at Gallipoli in 1915.
Westminster Abbey Service of Commemoration
Following the Cenotaph, Princess Catherine attended the annual ANZAC Day Service at Westminster Abbey. The service, organised by the Australian and New Zealand High Commissions, included hymns, prayers, and reflections on courage and sacrifice.
Significance of ANZAC Day for the Royal Family
ANZAC Day is one of the most important remembrance days in the Commonwealth. The Princess of Wales’s prominent role continues a long royal tradition of honouring the ANZAC legacy in London.
Princess Anne also represented the King at the Dawn Service at Wellington Arch earlier that morning.
Why This Engagement Matters
This was another high-profile solo engagement for the Princess of Wales in 2026. Her graceful and respectful presence was widely praised by the Australian and New Zealand communities in the UK.
