The Royal Family & Covid 19

Like everybody else the Royal Family’s lives, and schedules have been disrupted by the pandemic.

Most ceremonies and Royal visits have been cancelled but senior family members have adjusted by carrying out duties in a socially distanced or remote way.

The Queen and Prince Philip

The Queen and Prince Philip have been living at Windsor Castle since the autumn.

Her Majesty, however, continues to comment on international issues and is expected to host President Biden at Buckingham Palace before the G7 Summit in June 2021.

With the help of daughter Princess Anne, the Queen has turned her hand to making Zoom calls to speak to a wide variety of people safely and marking events including Carers Week and Armed Forces Day and continues to send messages of support to voluntary organisations and institutions around the world.

The Duke and Duchess of Cornwall

The Prince of Wales marked 50 years of environmental campaigning by urging businesses to back the Terra Carta or Earth charter to create a more sustainable future.

His Highness also opened the National Holocaust Memorial Day Ceremony via video link along with the Duchess of Cornwall.

The Duchess of Cornwall launched the Reading Room celebrating literature, offering book recommendations and insights from the authors.

The couple are believed to be spending the third lockdown at Highgrove House in Gloucestershire.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge

Prince William has volunteered at homeless charity The Passage, one of his patronages. The charity reported that he visited on three occasions ‘in a private capacity as a volunteer’.

He also joined the Duchess of Cambridge in a live video chat with key workers.

Through her patronage of charity Place2Be the Duchess of Cambridge helped launch Children’s Mental Health Week in February with a message of support.

The couple and their three children also clapped for carers to pay tribute to NHS staff.

While the schools remain closed the Duke and Duchess are living at their country residence Anmer Hall in Norfolk.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex

Prince Harry and wife Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, stepped down as senior royals in March 2019 and the couple took up residence in the USA.

The couple has continued with charitable work in the United States including delivering meals to people in Los Angeles for the Angel Food Project and supported Homeboy Industries which helps find employment for former prison inmates.
